and then the dogs came home……

We always board our dogs for the first couple of days after a new child comes home. Part of it is to give the child time to get used to our house and our routine before introducing the dogs into the new “transitional insanity” that comes right after bringing a new child into the family. But, truthfully, the biggest reason is because when I am jet lagged, the last thing I want to do is deal with animals.

It’s always a concern when we introduce a child to our dogs. Our dogs are VERY good with kids. But still. There are three of them….which in and of itself can be overwhelming. So, we were cautiously optimistic with how Annikah would do when she met the dogs.

There was no need to worry.

Like everything else, Annikah surprised us. She LOVES the dogs!!!! When they were outside, she sat by the window or the door (depending on what part of the yard the dogs were in). She barked at them (and they looked at her like she was crazy…lol). She learned the ASL sign for “dog”. She even worked VERY hard on figuring out the lock system on our back door in her attempts to let them back in the house so that she could play with them.

But, the best moment of all was when the dogs went outside for their last potty break before bed time. Annikah took up her position by the door to wait on them. This is what happened:

She went to sleep!!!!
(and yes, I went and found the camera before I took her to bed!)

What a riot! She is just too precious! And that adorableness is going to work way too much in her favor and your disfavor, I'm afraid - things like her bathtub stunt today, I'm sure accompanied by the cute little grin when you found her, is going to be hard for anyone to discipline! ha!

God's blessed you with some sweet kiddos - thanks for sharing them with those of us who pray for your family!
